Our Classrooms
Threes Program and Preschool Program
In our Threes and Preschool programs, young children develop and learn through play. Each day follows a predictable schedule that children on which the children depend. Within this framework there is considerable flexibility, and children are encouraged to choose activities that interest them. Under the supervision and guidance of a highly experienced and trained staff, children have daily opportunities to engage in both free and structured activities. Through block building, creative arts, stories, cooking, woodworking, science explorations, dramatic play, and talking together, children learn to ask questions, find answers, and express their feelings. Through outdoor play and movement with music, children stretch growing muscles and develop coordination. Through playing alone and in groups, children have time to organize their thoughts and learn to share and get along with others. Each classroom becomes a close knit community.
The Threes Program has 5 teachers and 18 children starting at 2 years, 8 months.
The Preschool Program has 5 teachers and 20 children starting at 3 years, 8 months
Kindergarten Program
The Kindergarten program takes into account the increasing ability of five year olds to explore, make choices, accept challenges, become aware of themselves and others, work through problems, and make sense of the many new symbols in their world. It is our goal to help children become confident, productive, thoughtful, caring, and creative human beings by providing a setting that is stimulating and supportive. We use a language experience approach to reading and writing in which stories and books are an important part of each day, as are such math experiences as block building, cooking, sorting, working with a simple calendar, and taking surveys and graphing the results. The staff helps the children to work and play together in an atmosphere that fosters creativity, curiosity, cooperation, community, and growing independence.
The Kindergarten Program has 4 teachers and up to 18 children starting at 4 years, 6 months.
